NoVA Favorites: Apple Picking at Stribling Orchard
Nestled in the Mountains of Markham, Virginia is Stribling Orchard, a family owned farm that has been around for two centuries. From the charm of the mountain views, original stone structures dating back to the 1700s, to the unmatched taste of the Bakery's signature apple crumb top pie, Stribling Orchard is a delight to visit.
The Orchard is home to over 2,000 apple trees in many varieties and 800 peach trees. All you need for apple picking including the picking poles, bags and a map of the fruit trees is given to you at the information desk upon checking in.
The walk through the row of trees can make for good exercise unless you'd rather drive up into the orchard which is also an option. Upon completion of your apple picking for the day, I recommend stopping by the bakery to snack on an apple turn over, buying a delicious apple pie and stocking up on jars of honey made from bees on the farm.
Stribling Orchard is a delightful place to go apple picking in Northern Virginia. It is especially exciting to visit right now because they are celebrating their 200th year anniversary with Autumn events and fun activities every Saturday in October. I hope you get a chance to plan a visit soon!
